Why not give credit where credit is due. You write a whole article on "Grease the Groove" and somehow fail to mention Pavel Tsatsouline ? Readers should go direct to the source to read about this.

As someone who was born in the Soviet Union, I used a less extreme variation of this system. I had a pull-up bar at home and often (not every time) did pull-ups when passing by. It helped me get fit.

Is this why Soviet Union was only country with enough strength to SMASH fascism?

The side benfit of this method is that it builds muscle as well.

Look at all the people who work demanding jobs.

They have good muscle mass and incredible strength (especially grip strength).

They never go to “failure”. They just pracitce hard movements during the day.

The body adapts to the stimulus.

I like the concept of "clean reps." It's so important that you do something correctly. If you do it badly - fresh or tired - you're reinforcing bad habits, incorrect alignment, and just generally going backwards.

I would do pull ups at my aunts house on this door frame bar they had for one of my cousins, barely just one at the beginning but I was doing it couple times a day as I entered or left the kitchen where that door frame was located. Over the course of 2 months I was able to 7 pull ups a 700% increase in repetitions just because I was doing a pull up or two couple times a day.

A great example for strength over size is Allen Fisher who is arguably the greatest arm wrestler in history. Just google this dude and tell me his looks don’t shock you, then take a look at his contemporary opponents

Is no one reading this garbage spot the idiocy of it all?!? “Don’t chase reps”, or, “If something feels off, stop” for an exercise you practice IN YOUR MIND?!?

Not trying to say here that there is no brain-muscle connection that can possibly be improved by “visualising” the correct form of a physical exercise, but NO ONE, EVER will get stronger biceps just by imagining bicep curls!!! Wtf people, imagine how amazingly strong would be old people sitting in their armchairs, or lazy, fat assholes lying on their couches all day, if any of this could be achieved only by imagining push-ups and squats… 🤣😂🤣😂🤣

Arrogant baseless statement. Did even try to actually read the article before commenting?

You're full of shit, there are numerous works showing the power of just visualisation of a workout and thats just for strength.

All aspects of all sports can be improved by just the visualisation of the parts. A boxers shadow boxing could be considered this exact methodology.

Did any of those who posted below here live in the soviet union? No? I did, and you are all just ignorant people who are being tricked into loving this shameful, misanthropic regime.

Moreover, there is nothing here from the physical education of those times. The 80 + 20 system was used there, and the system and pyramids for increasing the number of repetitions and sets with a proportional increase in the lifting weight. But even this system was a reworked system of Alexander Zass. It was good, not what you are given here.

I give you the answer as a master of sports in the past.
